Elections in zimbabwe

Created by Jennifer 2 years ago
While we were in zimbabwe there were elections - a difficult time as trouble between mashona and matabele could flare up very easily. Because of this Bill banned political posters in the factory and removed those that had been put up. The government took exception to this and for a while we were afraid he might be arrested. Fortunately Bill had missed a poster of mr. mugabe; and was also helped by an incident at a farm the factory owned. Squatters had surrounded the farm and were threatening the farmer and his wife. Bill drove out there with the mayor of kwekwe and negotiated with them to leave in return for some shovels and barrows. One of a ministers cousins had been injured in the attack and Bills efforts in saving the situation earnt him the gratitude of the government
